Recently-published survey results by Socitm’s Better Connected programme have highlighted 19 Family Information Services (FIS) websites as ‘outstanding’, with ten of these platforms developed by Idox’s social care arm, Open Objects.
Titled ‘Find Childcare’, the review assessed 206 local authorities throughout the UK, rating their online performance in the provision of information, advice and signposting to information related to childcare. It recognised that finding childcare can be difficult for parents and carers and that local authorities should be a trusted source for their respective local areas.
The top performers supported easy-to-find information and were commended for their sleek, well-designed and mobile-responsive websites, which also featured branding consistent with the main council website.
With only 15% of local authority sites receiving a top-score rating of 4*, Open Objects customers have been delighted with the recommendations put forward for their platforms:
Buckinghamshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, Warren Whyte, said: “We are absolutely delighted that our Buckinghamshire Family Information Service website has been recognised as Outstanding by Socitm.
“The website is a fantastic online resource for families, with a huge range of local information for parents and families, a searchable directory to help parents find local childcare, as well as events and ‘what’s on’ listings all year round. It really is the ‘go to’ resource for Buckinghamshire families!”
